I recently had a conversation with JagTag. I ventured to ask the rather incisive question, "What does JagTag have that QR Codes, Microsoft Tags, UPC Codes, et al., don't?"
The answer was very good. In stark contrast to the rest, JagTag does NOT require an app to be downloaded. The user can simply snap a pic of the JagTag with their phone, send the image to a number, and the user will receive a message with a link to click. Also note the absence of smart in front of the word "phone" in the previous sentence. JagTag does not require a smartphone. It will work with most web enabled phones.
The downside is that extra steps are added to the process. With all codes, the user must always snap a pic, but with an app-based code, the application does all the work from there. With JagTag, there are extra steps.
What's the point? The "JagTag market" is about 800 times (yes, eight hundred times) larger than the rest combined. Because JagTag relies on the commonplace technology of snapping and sending a pic, and requires neither a smartphone nor an app download, it makes this flavor of augmented reality available to a much larger community of people.
In percentages, about 80% of people can now use JagTag, while about 0.1% can use the rest.
So, if you're running an ad campaign, definitely take a look at JagTag as you evaluate your options.
